Viraasat-e-Punjab Bhangra Cup 2024

Jithon Bhangra Hai, Othay Punjab Di Viraasat Zinda Hai.

In September 2024, the echo of dhols and the vibrant beats of Bhangra brought DAV University, Jalandhar to life as Khed Bharati Punjab proudly hosted the first-ever Viraasat-e-Punjab Bhangra Cup—a grand celebration of Punjab’s living cultural heritage.

The event brought together top university and independent Bhangra teams from across the state in a spirited competition that blended traditional energy with youthful passion. The stage was not just a platform for dance—it became a canvas for storytelling, identity, and collective pride in Punjab’s roots.

Event Highlights:

  • Participation from 12+ Bhangra troupes, showcasing diverse regional styles of Bhangra including Malwai, Luddi, and Giddha
  • A packed auditorium with over 2000 spectators, faculty, dignitaries, and youth cheering with pride
  • Panel of cultural icons and folk experts as judges, ensuring authenticity and celebration of originality
  • Special segments featuring Gatka demonstrations and folk musical performances
  • Message woven throughout the evening: Celebrate culture, stay grounded, live drug-free

A Celebration With a Purpose

Viraasat-e-Punjab was not merely a competition—it was a cultural call to action. With our anti-drug campaign “Mission Zindagi: Nasha Ton Azadi” integrated into the heart of the event, we used folk art to deliver a deeper message: our traditions are not just to be preserved, but to be lived with pride, strength, and clean spirit.
