Punjab Girls’ Kabaddi Cup – A Celebration of Strength and Sisterhood

Where every raid is a roar, and every tackle is a triumph.

In a bold step towards empowering young girls through traditional sport, Ms. Neetu Singh, a passionate advocate for women in athletics and a sports person herself, organized the Shaan-e-Punjab Doraha Girls’ Kabaddi Cup in association with Khed Bharati Punjab. Held at Doraha, the event served as a vibrant stage for aspiring female athletes to showcase their power, agility, and team spirit.

This tournament wasn’t just about kabaddi—it was about breaking stereotypes, building confidence, and rooting girls firmly in the soil of Punjab’s rich sports culture.

“Every time a girl steps onto the kabaddi field, she reclaims her strength, her voice, and her future. This tournament is not just a sporting event—it’s a declaration that Punjab’s daughters are ready to lead from the front.”
Sh. Deepak Sharma, State Secretary, Khed Bharati Punjab

Event Highlights:

  • Participation of 10+ girls’ teams from rural and urban areas across the region
  • Competitive matches in a knock-out format, infused with high energy and strategy
  • Special focus on fitness, fair play, and cultural pride

Purpose Beyond Play

The tournament highlighted the role of sports as a tool for social change, especially in nurturing self-belief among girls. In partnership with Khed Bharati, the event aimed to bring more young women onto the playing field—away from harmful influences and toward a path of discipline, health, and leadership.

“When a girl enters the kabaddi ground, she leaves fear behind. Through this tournament, we are not just creating players—we are creating future leaders.”
Ms. Neetu Singh, Organiser, Girls’ Doraha Kabaddi Cup

Khed Bharati’s Support

As a supporting organization, Khed Bharati Punjab applauded this initiative as part of its larger mission to promote traditional sports, gender equality, and drug-free living. The Girls’ Kabaddi Cup aligns perfectly with Khed Bharati’s vision to make sports accessible, inclusive, and transformational.

“Every point earned on this kabaddi field is a point scored against addiction, discrimination, and doubt.”
Sh. Arvind Singh Rana, State President, Khed Bharati Punjab

This Girls’ Kabaddi Cup is set to become a recurring inspiration across districts—encouraging more girls to step into the circle, take a stance, and play for pride, purpose, and Punjab.
